The event is one of the following (even if the outcome was not death or major permanent loss of function unrelated to the natural course of the patient’s illness or underlying condition): Unintended retention of a foreign object in a patient after surgery or other procedure.

The ORLocate®system supports hospital’s efforts in eliminating sentinel events that occur due to retained foreign objects/ instruments or sponges.

The ORLocate ®system has built-in automated reports that allow data analysis using the various variables (i.e. staff, schedule, instruments used, counts, etc.). In addition, the system  has the ability to interact with EMAR or other IT systems.

The automated reports provide management/leadership with data needed to understand the utilization  of instruments, including instruments involved in harm caused to a patient or on a patient w/infection etc.
